Torquay Rememberance Day

Well the community of St Marychurch came together with the Torquay Armed Forces Veterans Breakfast Club for the Armistice Day Service of Remembrance. This is the 3rd year we have been invited to attend by Father Nick Delaney.

What is unique about this service not only do they remember the fallen but it's also about the local community as they reflect to the 30 May 1943 when a German FW190 bombed the church. 21 children were killed together with 3 Sunday school teachers. It affected nearly everybody locally and killed almost all of one year of the local school.

The service has grown from year to year with the local community coming out to pay their respects along with the local schools. It is a very Heartwarming service which makes many of us tough old vets gulp for air and shed the odd tear, when the children speak and sing.
